Job Description

SUMMARY : Assist during shipping for proper flow of rice over equipment. Ensure the rice is routed to the correct bins or equipment. Be aware of and/or notify the supervisor of equipment failure. Solve minor equipment problems so that progress is restored to shipping and milling. Maintain a respectable level of sanitation. Document duties performed.

Basic Qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for food safety by following HACCP and Food Safety policies/procedures. Responsible for plant safety by observing persons entering your work area, asking if you can assist them and reporting unauthorized persons to your supervisor. Attend training as required or approved by supervisor.
Test metal detectors. Adjust feed on shipping equipment. Take samples for QA. Separate metal finds from rice. Adjust rotex. Manually open and close gates if needed. Do paperwork on shipping and cleaning schedules. Set scales. Put up brown rice. Transfer bins. Drain shipping bins. Do clean up of equipment so that it is ready for morning shipping. Measure bins. Blow and fog bins, inventory bins. Verify bin space for the milling and incoming rice. Grease equipment. Put up flour heads for the flour bins. Transfer flour heads to flour mill. Document times when transfers are done. Know and document amounts of all transfers. Know where the mill is going and estimate time for bin changes. Do Sanitation, Pick up piles and do assigned duties. Ability to work with PLC System.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)and one to three months related experience and/or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Be able to tell the difference between medium grain and long grain rice. Be able to spot from the floor if a mill gate is open. See the difference between brown rice and white rice. Be aware of moving equipment in one's area. Be able to get on a man lift without stepping into empty space. Focus. Be able to see the mill panel to verify if a bin is opened or closed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
